Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to attend court?

Accused persons are required to attend court where they are subject to a Bail Agreement (Police Bail Agreement or Court Bail Agreement) and/or are directed by the court to attend. In circumstances where an accused is unable to attend due to matters outside of their control, subject to the court’s permission, we can seek your excusal.

What do I wear to court?

It is always recommended that you attend court in appropriate ‘business attire’. The court is a formal setting and we strongly encourage, where possible, that you present in a respectful and neat manner, akin to a job interview. This could include a shirt (no tie) and pants. You are not required to wear a suit. If you coming to/from work, your work uniform is acceptable.

What should I do if the police are questioning me?

It’s important to know your rights when speaking to police. Our criminal lawyers can advise you on how to respond safely and legally, protect your interests, and represent you if charges are laid. Acting quickly can make a significant difference to the outcome. Contact us today to discuss your situation.

I live in regional South Australia, can your lawyers help me?

Yes. We have offices in Adelaide, Berri, and Tanunda, which allows us to provide legal advice and representation across South Australia. No matter your location, our team can assist and guide you through the legal process.
